The incident happened just before 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 in Massapequa.
Nassau County Police say officers responded to a Stone Boulevard residence for a report of a suicidal 19-year-old.
Upon arrival, the male, David Clements, was standing in front of his home with three handguns, holding a gun in each hand pointing them at his head, according to the Nassau County PD.
"He was threatening to kill himself and disregarded numerous commands from officers to disarm himself," police noted.
Clements retreated into his home, before coming back outside, police said, adding. "He then rushed down his driveway, pointing his weapon at officers until it became necessary for an officer to use deadly physical force. This officer was forced to shoot David Clements to stop the threat to officers and the public."
Clements was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police Department medic.
The Nassau County Police Department Homicide Squad will continue its investigation in to this incident in conjunction with the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
