Kamala Harris gifted tickets by ESPN, Beyonc in 2023, documents show

Vice President Kamala Harris was gifted tickets to a Howard University football game and a Beyoncé concert in 2023, according to financial disclosure documents from the U.S. Office of Government Ethics.

The tickets to Howard’s bowl game v.s. Florida A&M, which Harris received from sports broadcaster ESPN, are valued at $1,890, the documents show. The Beyoncé tickets, which the vice president received from the artist herself, were worth $1,655.92.

Harris disclosed both items under a category for “gifts and travel reimbursements.”

In an Instagram post from 2023, Harris thanked Beyoncé for the coveted Renaissance Tour tickets and described the event as “a fun date night.” She also participated in an interview with ESPN during the bowl game in which she touted having been a sorority member at Howard.

The revelation once again draws Harris into the spotlight after another attention-grabbing moment earlier this month. The vice president, when asked for a comment on a potential ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, headed off the question by pointing to her takeout bag.

“Shrimp and grits!” she exclaimed. “You wanted to know? Shrimp and grits.”

A pollster in March referred to the vice president as “court jester Kamala” when reviewing her dismal approval numbers. A nationwide survey at the time found 52% of registered voters disapprove of Harris. Just 36% said they approve of the job she has done under President Joe Biden, who also received low approval at 41%.

"As I say, she's Queen Kamala when it comes to Democrats," Suffolk University Political Research Center Director David Paleologos said. "Independents, you know, she's quite suitable Kamala. Among Republicans, she's court jester Kamala."

ESPN did not immediately return The National Desk's request for comment Thursday.
