Lawmakers celebrate passage of legislation allowing whole milk to return to school menus

Some lawmakers in Washington are touting a bill that would see whole milk and flavors added back to menus in schools.

House Resolution 1147, also known as the "Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act,” passed the House this week with bipartisan support.

The legislation was introduced by local representative Glenn "GT" Thompson.

He says it's been 13 years since students have had the option of whole milk, when former First Lady Michelle Obama moved to only allow low-fat options.

The bill now heads to the Senate.
