The festival will take place on Railroad Avenue, steps from the Peekskill train station, on Saturday, May 20 from 3 p.m. to midnight.
NashSkill Fest celebrates Americana Roots music with two country and Americana music superstars, Musician-Singer-Songwriter Jim Lauderdale (five-time Grammy Award winner), and Chip Taylor (“Wild Thing” and “Angel of the Morning,” Songwriters’ Hall of Fame member).
Also scheduled to perform are Tony Garnier (Bob Dylan and Diana Krall), Brooklyn Bluegrass Collective, Hot Rod Pacer, Spurs USA, Cosmic American Derelicts, and the Joni Blondell Band.
“Ten years ago, I left Kentucky for Broadway,” said Blondell, event producer and vocalist. “This is an opportunity to bring a little of the Kentucky front porch bluegrass and country music heritage for which I am homesick for to Peekskill."
NashSkill Fest will be also celebrating the best of the Hudson Valley and beyond with a wide selection of food and drink offerings including artisanal pizzas from Birdsall House, craft beers from Peekskill Brewery and Captain Lawrence, Bourbon Tasting by Dylan's Wine Cellar & Still the One 2 Distillery and an authentic Louisiana Crawfish Boil from Craig Borges New Orlean Seafood Co.
A mechanical bull will be on site for those who want to test their rodeo skills. Bull rides and a percentage of food and beverage sales will go to Westchester Habitat for Humanity.
For more details, go to www.nashkill.com. The event is a team effort production from Garrison residents Louis Lanza of the Hudson Hospitality Group, his wife, Joni Blondel of Kentucky Girl Productions and fellow Garrison resident Ray Wilson of All Creative Entertainment.
Blondell said she hopes it will turn into something they can do annually
