We told you that Tyler would be back for Season 5, but what we didn’t know is that Caleb would have a dark future ahead.
“He’s just openly questioning life as a whole,” Tyler tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “I think that he doesn’t trust the world anymore and when that happens, you really start going down a dark path.”
Understandably, Caleb witnessed downright madness in Ravenswood, and he has a tough time opening up to his friends back in liars’ land. “He’s a little reluctant because it sounds crazy, people won’t really get it,” he explains. “He shuts off and I think that’s actually part of the reason why he isolates himself so much — he feels like he’s crazy and he’s in it alone.”
In the midst of his downward spiral, Caleb turns to “self destructive behavior and definitely self-medication,” but thankfully, he has friends there for him, whether or not he accepts it.
“Toby (Keegan Allen) kinda steps in [and] even Spencer (Troian Bellisario),” Tyler reveals. “They start to see what he’s dealing with and its not pretty so he has a little bit of a support system but it also pushes them away a lot.”
Of course, Spencer dealt with her own problems, turning to drugs in Season 4, so she’s the perfect cushion for Caleb. “She’s the one who’s dealt with her own demons and her own self medication, and Toby’s just sort of a pretty level-headed guy, pretty calm…plus, Caleb and Toby have a little bit of a bromance.”
Hanna (Ashley Benson) must be so excited that Caleb is finally back in Rosewood!
We had to ask Tyler if Haleb would be back on, and he did an A-okay job at teasing us. “We definitely interact together, so I think that will be pleasing to the viewers,” Tyler admitted, “but I’m not going to say whether or not they are making out again.”
Ashley Benson told HollywoodLife.com that she wanted the writers to bring Caleb back in, as her boyfriend, so we can only hope that will become a reality.
In all seriousness, Tyler does reveal that Hanna is a great support system for him, in addition to Toby and Spencer, and she’ll probably have to pave the way for Caleb when it comes to catching him up on Alison. (Remember, when Tyler left, she was still “dead.”)
“He really only knows [Ali] through what the girls told him so he really doesn’t like her,” Tyler admits.
I know you’re all dying to know what prompted the new ‘do. Well, turns out, it was Tyler’s choice.
“It was my decision…I just needed a change in real life and thought it was good for the character, as well,” Caleb tells HollywoodLife.com. “I love it. I really like having my neck exposed. Sometimes I feel like it makes me look like a 15-year-old boy, but other times I feel like I look like more of a man with it. I don’t know. I like it.”
Tyler, we like it, too, and we have no doubts that your PLL fans will have no complaints!
HollywoodLifers, are you pumped up for Tyler’s return? Are you excited to see him go down a dark path or do you think this is the wrong direction for Caleb? Let us know, liars!
